Wildcats Fall Just Short Against Tilton

Coach Van Dolah
Nowlan and the KUA defense shined today despite loss.
It's not often that you outhit your opponent, make no errors defensively, and strikeout more of the opponent's batters than they do yours and lose a baseball game. But that's what happened today against a well-coached and opportunistic Tilton team. The Rams took advantage of two walks and followed them with a HR just over the right-field fence for their three runs on the day. KUA's single run came off the bat of Silas Nowlan in the bottom of the 7th inning - his first HR of the season. KUA then loaded the bases with two outs in that same inning but didn't get the hit or two that they needed to complete the comeback. Brendan Walker pitched 4.0 innings, gave up 2 hits and struck out 8, while Nowlan pitched the final 3.0 innings without surrendering a hit or a walk and striking out 2 Rams batters.

Nowlan led the way on offense with three hits. Mica McGinley-Smith, Jon Bruner, and Alex Shareiko all had a hit apiece. McGinley-Smith, AJ Noel, and Revy Mack all had assists defensively, while Bruner and Ray Thurston had two putouts each in the outfield.

A lot to be proud of and to build on from this game! We are back in action in Saxtons River on Friday against Vermont Academy. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
