KUA Notches First Win of the Year

As is to be expected in the first game of the season, it took the Wildcats over a half of basketball to shake off the jitters and the rust and find a rhythm against the Tilton Rams.  After an inconsistent first stanza on both sides of the court, KUA found itself down 21-17 at the half.  In the second half, the 'Cats played more unselfishly on the offensive end and ratcheted up the defensive effort as well.  The more balanced performance allowed them to chip away at the lead and ultimately pull away at the end of the game.

KUA was led by senior Hill Carter who scored 10 points and also helped to neutralize the advantage that Tilton had in the frontcourt.  Point guard Andrew Alexandrescu ‘22 also had a strong game on both ends of the court, scoring 10 points and registering a number of steals.  Max McClure '24 (8 points), Will Sewell '23 (4 points), and Yohan Do '22 (3 points) hit some timely baskets in the second half to help carry the load and Charlie Baughman '21 (2 points) and Tinashe Mtetwa '21 (2 points) helped to provide a spark in both halves.  Sophomore Alvin Ku ‘23 (2 points), though he struggled on offense, started his KUA career off by securing a number of important rebounds throughout the contest. The team received contributions from Brendan Walker '22, Keenan Thygesen '22, Aidan Davie '22, Tinashe Muhlauri '23, and Cam De Tolla '23 as well.

The 'Cats return to action next weekend against New Hampton.
