KUA returns to action today losing in the end by three to Lawrence Academy 88-85.

The Kimball Unions boys basketball team returned to action after the holiday break today, taking on AA rival Lawrence Academy. In a fast paced first half the Wildcats took 4 point lead at the half, 45-41, paced by Nick Timberlake’s 19 first half points. Lawrence’s Joey Luchetti answered in the second half scoring 16 of his team high 26 points as Lawrence was able to hold off a late charge from KUA who cut Lawrence’s 8 point lead down to two with one minute to play, 84-82. The Wildcats had two missed opportunities to tie the game in the end as Lawrence finished winning by three, 88-85. Nick Timberlake finished with 34 points for the night. Eze Dike (20 pts), Kamal Aubakirov (13 pts), and Jordan Huntley (10 pts) joined Timberlake in double figures. Kimball Union will pay again on Friday, travelling to New Hampton and the return for a home game vs Gould on Saturday.
