The JV field hockey team re-matched Proctor this afternoon and came away with a convincing 1-0 victory!! KUA made small changes with their approach to the game that made all the difference today. KUA began the first half with strong communication skills and maintained these skills throughout the game. In the second half, KUA found itself on defense more than necessary. After a quick time out, KUA entered the remainder of the game with a strong emphasis on positivity- it made all the difference. With a matter of seconds, KUA moved the ball from the deep defensive zone to the midfield by means of using available open space on the field. From there, Lucy Pike push-passed the ball into the offensive circle, where Grace Bonner, Caitlin Doyle and Maggie Hicks crashed the post and pads of the net. Maggie Hicks tipped in Lucy’s shot around the goalie’s pads and into the net for the goal! The offensive players worked hard throughout the game to create scoring opportunities. Anda Brown, Sunny Sun, Gabby Pais, Kristen Richardson and Even Xu Held down the defensive fort with energy and determination for the entirety of the game. Senior Jesse Leung anchored the defense and aided in the prevention of many shots, including making a key defensive save. Goalie Seana Perkins had seven shots, and her shutout kept KUA in the game! Midfielders Reagan Schaffer, Natalie Paine and Dorodia Huang did an excellent job recovering, creating options for their teammates and adding necessary layers to both offense and defense and the offenders. Overall, it was a great game! KUA is excited to take on Holderness in two short days.
