On Friday, the Kimball Union Academy boys’ varsity lacrosse team defeated Vermont Academy 12-4. The KUA defense was stalwart in front of their cage. Long pole Owen Manley set the tone with hard checks and aggressive ground ball play. Z Ikeda continued to make timely checks at long pole while the D-squad including Greg Surgenor, Jack McCarthy, Vasili Katsarakes, and Parker Hall, were increasingly impenetrable in front of the cage.  McCarthy cleared end to end on two occasions and dished off one assist. At the other end, KUA’s Gavin Black scored four goals to lead the Wildcat offense. Eric Megnia scored three and assisted on two. Kenny Speak and Mike Lombardi both scored one apiece and assisted on three.  Will Harrigan added two goals for the KUA O. Nick Parker recorded 11 saves to earn the win, while face-off specialist Cam Beecy won 85% of his draws. Owen Manley scooped up 8 ground balls for the Wildcats. KUA (7-4) plays Saturday on the road at Northfield Mt. Hermon.
