The Wildcats Finish Strong to Beat the Hornets

The Varsity Field Hockey team traveled to Proctor Academy today to play the Hornets for the second time this season. Possession went back and forth for the first 30 minutes and the first half ended with a tie 0-0. Within four minutes of the second half, freshman Madison Gesner (West Newton, MA) scored off of a pass from junior Miranda Judd (Lebanon, NH) from to put the Wildcats up one goal. Ten minutes later, senior captain Fallan Adair tied the game for Proctor. The Wildcats continued to dominate the play and continued to bring the ball into their offensive circle. Freshman Mia Brown (Woodstock, VT) scored the game-winning goal, redirecting a shot from sophomore Liz Colannino (Old Town, ME) with six minutes to play. The Hornets continued to pressure and earned a corner with a minute left. The Wildcat defense led by goalie sophomore Sofia DiAntonio (Cornish, NH) and sophomore Anna Parker (Lebanon, NH) kept the ball out as time ran out. The win was a team effort and every player played hard. The Wildcats finished the game with 11 corners to the Hornet’s 9. DiAntonio had 7 saves in cage. Kimball Union is out again tomorrow against Lakes Region opponent New Hampton at 3:30 on Pope Field.
