KUA defeated Proctor Academy 4-2 at home to defend their Lakes Region tournament.
KUA welcomed Proctor Academy to campus for the Lakes Region tournament.
Similarly to yesterday, KUA went down early 1-0 to the away team, but didn't let it deter them from their play. After giving up an early goal, Eric Megnia tied the game at one on the power play when he received a pass from Brendan Riley and George Sennot at the left point, took a few strides into the offensive zone and ripped a shot into the upper corner. Even though down a man, KUA would not be held back for their second goal. Tyler Bird scored shorthanded to put the Wildcats' up 2-1. The period ended that way. JD Dudek got a mark in the goal column when he received a nice drop pass from Ben Finkelstein and sniped a shot over the Proctor goalie's right shoulder for a 3-1 lead. That is how the second period ended. Proctor got one back in the third to make it 3-2, and making the last half of the period a very tense one for both sides. Bobby Hall, Chris Shero and Brendan Riley didn't let the intensity get to them as they moved the puck well entering the zone, where Shero found Hall who shot well, hit the post, and Riley poked in the loose puck for insurance.
The game ended with KUA winning 4-2 and retaining the Lakes Region championship.
KUA looks forward to next week when they will play in a NEPSAC tournament.
