KUA put forth a great effort at both ends of the ice, but the girls could not find a way to solve Hebron’s goaltending. The KUA D-Core was stellar tonight with Amelie Poirier leading the way to her career high 7th shutout of the season. Lizzie Palker(Sr.) set the tone early for the KUA offense as she showed great poise on the back end and jumpstarted the breakout on several occasions in the 1st period. The pair of Maya Karosas(Jr.) and Caroline McNair(Sr.) did a great job of handling the Hebron line rush and made smart decisions on the blue line in the offensive zone all night long. Freshman Lexi Nottke handed in yet another well-rounded effort and was efficient on both sides of the puck. KUA’s forwards worked all night long and many times it looked like they would finally be rewarded for their efforts. However, it was not to be and OT ended in a tie. Both goalies deserve credit and a 0-0 tie is a fitting time to give praise to a D-Core that has consistently battled for the Wildcats all season.
KUA returns to action Wed., Feb. 19 with a 2:30pm road game at New Hampton.
