Poirier and Landwehrle Shine in Shutout Victory

Kimball Union 1 vs. Governor's 0
The KUA girls put forth a great defensive effort in front of their hometown fans tonight. Governor’s won the possession game in the 1st period, but the girls did a nice job of protecting the middle and killing off two penalties to keep the game scoreless heading into the 2nd. In the 2nd, the girls settled down and managed an offensive push which led to two power play opportunities. Due to some great goaltending on both side, the score remained 0-0 to start the 3rd. Finally, Sr. Lindsey Landwehrle was rewarded for a night of strong offensive play with the game winning goal. Sr. Hannah Madden made a great pass to the net front and Landwehrle tucked a shot inside the low post as she was being knocked down. That was all the girls needed and, with some strong defensive zone play in front of her, Sr. Amelie Poirier was able to record her 4th shutout of the season.
KUA returns to action tomorrow (Jan. 18) with a 2:00pm home game vs. Berwick Academy.
