The Wildcats faced the Holderness Bulls for the second time this season. Initially, the Bulls took the ball into their offensive circle and M. Bayreuther scored off of a pass from H. Droste. The Wildcats seemed back on their heels not anticipating passing or shots. After the goal, the Wildcats stepped up. Senior Storm Sideleau (Contoocook, NH) led the charge by stepping up on free hits and reaching for every ball offensively to bring into our offensive circle. Junior Maya Karosas (Stowe, VT) and sophomore Kelsey Pollard (Meriden, NH) played a great give-and-go game up the field and crossed the ball several times in front of the net.
Bulls’ M. Bayreuther scored 5 minutes into the second half unassisted this time. The Wildcats began stepping to ball in their defensive circle. Senior captain Justine Rouleau (Sunapee, NH) came out of the backfield hard for each big hit and began playing a much more offensive game, supporting the frontline. Karosas created a scoring opportunity with 12 minutes left by dodging the last defender in front of the net and pulling the goalie wide; unfortunately the shot went wide. Droste scored the third goal for the Bulls and the last goal of the game with 9 minutes remaining in the game. Senior Alana Corrado (Winchester, MA) had 6 saves in the net for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats will host Phillips Exeter this Wednesday on Pope Field. This is the team’s last home game of regular season.
