The Wildcats Beat the Huskies in Rematch: 2-1 OT

The Wildcats scored first today in their rematch against Lakes Region rival the New Hampton Huskies.
The Wildcats scored first today in their rematch against Lakes Region rival the New Hampton Huskies.  After a shot on goal nine minutes into the game and a goalie error, junior Maya Karosas (Stowe, VT) pushed the ball past the line for the first goal on the board.   The Huskies tied it up 17 minutes later and the game remained tied 1-1 through the first and second half.  In the second half, the Huskies created many opportunities by earning 15 corners.  The defense of Kimball Union beginning with senior Alana Corrado (Winchester, MA) in goal and freshman Anna Parker (Lebanon, NH) as sweeper played a cohesive unit pushing the ball wide and out.  Senior captain Alison Pollard (Meriden, NH), sophomore Miranda Judd (Lebanon, NH), and senior Storm Sideleau (Contoocook, NH) flew and trailed on each corner to make sure that the Huskies could not get a shot on net.  Senior captain Hannah Madden (Manchester, NH) also kept her stick down the circle and even earned a defensive save.  As the time ran down in the overtime, Parker timed her step to the ball and earned a turn over which she then passed across to Karosas.  Karosas passed to Madden who managed a 1vkeeper and scored with a minute left in overtime.
The Wildcats earned 6 corners to the Huskies 20 and Corrado had 7 saves in net.

Kimball Union improves to 9-4-1 and plays again this Saturday at 3:00 on Pope Field.
