The Wildcats Rally Second Half to Bring the Bobcats into Overtime
The Wildcats scored early and late to tie the game against Brewster Academy.
The Kimball Union Field Hockey team scored 37 seconds into the game today by carrying the ball down and crossing it in front of the net. For the next 35 minutes of the game, the Bobcats possessed the ball. They used a big ball game to bring the ball into our defensive zone and continued to take hard shots directly on net to score. The Bobcats tied the game up at 15:45 in the first half and took the lead 10 minutes later.
The Wildcats began to play as if they were down more goals than one and began doubting their ability. Senior Storm Sideleau (Contoocook, NH), junior Maya Karosas (Stowe, VT) and freshman Anna Parker (Lebanon, NH) continued stepping to every ball expecting to get it and slowly the momentum turned. With four minutes left in the game, the Wildcats tied it up.
The tied game led to a 10-minute sudden victory 7v7 overtime. The girls were tired from their 60 minutes of play but came out pumped to score early, just as they had in the game. The seven on the field dominated the play with smart passes and well-paced balls up the field. They earned two corners ultimately disrupted by strong Bobcat flyers. While the Wildcats played hard in the overtime, the game ended with the teams still tied 2-2. The Wildcats are back out on Friday playing against New Hampton, another Lakes Region rival, at New Hampton at 4:30.
