The Wildcats Beat the Hornets in Rematch

The Kimball Union Wildcats showed what they were made of on Saturday playing against the Proctor Hornets.
The Kimball Union Wildcats showed what they were made of on Saturday playing against the Proctor Hornets.  After losing 5-0 just last week to the Hornets, the Wildcats began focusing for this game long before they hit the field.  The girls played together and it was evident in the style of their play.  The inners on the forward line, sophomore Kelsey Pollard (Meriden, NH), senior Storm Sideleau (Contoocook, NH), and senior Caitlyn Lowe (Woodstock, VT) supported their wings up the field and redefended all the way back to their circle.   Wings, junior Maya Karosas (Stowe, VT), sophomore Kylie Shields (New Castle, NH) and Olivia Massey (Kennubunk, ME) stayed wide to draw the defense while also sprinting to stay at the height of the ball, always ready for a cross ball on the post.  Midfielders, senior captain Hannah Madden (Manchester, NH) and sophomore Miranda Judd (Lebanon, NH) stayed within yards of the forward line bringing the ball up the field while also sprinting back to the circle to help out defense.  Seniors captains Ali Pollard (Meriden, NH) and Justine Rouleau (Sunapee, NH) and sophomore Kayleigh Coombs (Claremont, NH) held the Proctor offense at the defensive line while freshman Anna Parker (Lebanon, NH) picked up any through balls as the sweeper.
While the Wildcats dominated the first half with five corners and several shots on goal, the game remained scoreless.  In the second half, Karosas carried the ball down the right side countless times and seven minutes in the half, Madden was able to redirect the pass from Karosas across the circle to Judd who was waiting for it push in.  The Wildcats continued to create several scoring opportunities with crosses and breakaways from Sideleau, Karosas, Kelsey Pollard and Madden.
The Wildcats finished the game with 14 corners to the Hornets’4 and 21 shots to the Hornets’ 4.  Senior goalie Alana Corrado (Winchester, MA) finished the game with 3 saves.  The Wildcats are back at it this Wednesday against Lakes Region opponent Brewster Academy at 3:30 on Pope Field.
