KUA Falls at Governor's Academy

KUA played focused, hard-nosed basketball for the first 16 minutes of today’s contest holding Governor’s Marist-bound sharp-shooter scoreless and giving the Wildcats a 20-15 halftime lead. Give credit to Shannon Walsh and Becca DeTurk for their defensive efforts on Kat Fogarty.

Jill Clark ‘15 did a nice job handling the defensive pressure of the Govs while driving to the hoop for 4 points.  She and senior Gretchen Schissel combined for 11 steals while co-captain Fiekah Fataar grabbed 9 boards in the first stanza.

The Govs turned up the heat in the second half slowing the scoring of Kimball Union though Fataar was able to match her first half efforts with 10 more points.  With under a minute to play KUA found themselves down by 3 (37-34) forcing them to foul to get the ball back.  Govs capitalized on the opportunity to secure the 41-34 victory.

Both teams now await their playoff seedings which will be announced on Sunday.  The NEPSAC quarter-finals will be played on Wednesday at a time and place to be determined.
