Co-Captain Gretchen Schissel started things off on the right foot by ripping down rebounds, getting deflections and netting a quick 5 points for Kimball Union which allowed the Wildcats to take a slight lead in the early going. The visiting Rams soon took advantage of the charity stripe and showed off their long-range shooting prowess taking a commanding 32-17 half-time lead. During the break the KUA coaches implored their squad to play as a team and to give it their all. The Cats indeed fought with tremendous pride and showed plenty of guts in the final 16 minutes playing a talented Tilton squad essentially even, 32-33. Kaitie Sanders gave another valiant effort driving the baseline and getting herself to the line, while Shannon Walsh and Fiekah Fataar took over on the boards and in scoring. Fataar finished with 18 points/17 rebounds and Walsh chipped in with 16points/10 rebounds. Freshman Miranda Judd and Sophomore Jill Clark did a nice job handling Tilton’s full-court pressure while Becca DeTurk and Chloe Tyler dished some nice assists down the stretch. A solid team effort in the 2nd stanza proves that KUA can compete with any team in New England when they give their best effort.
