KUA suffered a 49-39 loss in the opening round of the Lawrence Academy/Groton School Tournament. The first half was a back and forth battle with host Lawrence Academy taking a one-point lead, 22-21 lead at the intermission. The game was stop and go with both teams shooting a combined 59 free throws. Lawrence kept the lead thanks to 29 points from Pratt and 10 points from Marquez. Sophomore Shannon Walsh had a team high 14 points for Kimball Union while Jillian Clark, also a sophomore, chipped in with 10.
The Wildcats, now 1-3, take on both Groton School and Proctor Academy tomorrow to close out the tournament.
