KUA and BA Tie: 1-1

It was a cold overcast day as the KUA Wildcats and the BA Bobcats began their game and it slowly began to rain.  The Wildcats came out a little flat, reacting to the Bobcats passes rather than anticipating and intercepting the ball.  After a timeout, the girls began to step up their game.  KU earned a couple corners but had difficulty getting a shot off from the top of the circle because of BA’s tough flyer and trailer right behind her.  Brewster also earned a corner in the first half but the shot was stopped by Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA) in the net.
The game was still scoreless going into the second half.  Storm Sidelou (Contoocook, NH), Maura Doyle (Merrimac, MA), Katey Spanos (Newport, NH) and Maya Karosas (Stowe, VT) created many scoring opportunities again and again but kept being stopped by the Brewster defense.  With ten minutes left, Brewster scored with a big ball at the top of the circle.  With little time, Kimball Union rallied and continued to work hard.  The frontline continued to bring the ball down the field.  With less than 5 minutes in regular time, Caitlyn Lowe (Woodstock, VT) inserted the ball from the right side of the field; Doyle redirected it towards the left post where Karosas put it on cage to tie up the game.
Kells Casey played a smart game in goal for KU with 14 saves in the net.  In overtime, both teams had scoring opportunities but both goalies played smart and defense recovered.  The game ended with tie 1-1.
The Wildcats travel to New Hampton on Friday to play under the lights at 4:45.
