The Wildcats Win at Holderness Day

The Kimball Union Field Hockey team showed up to play today against Holderness School during the annual Holderness Day.  The Wildcats played a strong offensive game all first half but kept shooting wide of the goal.  Though the Cats dominated the play, they were only able to make three shots on goal and earned two corners.  The team went into the second half looking for more shots on goal.  Storm Sidelou (Contoocook, NH) and Becky Young (Plainfield, NH) played a strong supportive game in the midfield.  With less than 8 minutes on the clock, Katey Spanos (Newport, NH) crossed the ball in the circle to Sidelou who shot the ball on goal.  Maya Karosas (Stowe, VT) made contact and swept the ball in to score the lone goal of the day.  In the last four minutes, Holderness had the opportunity to tie it up with a penalty stoke; Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA) swatted the low shot out with her right hand.  The Wildcats played smart as the clock wound down to hold on to their lead.  Casey had a great game in goal with 7 saves.

The Wildcats host Deerfield next Wednesday at 3:45.
