KUA traveled to New Hampton School to take on the Huskies for the first time this season. The Wildcats were anticipating a tough game, but knew if they played their "game" that they would come out victorious. The first period was mostly controlled by KUA, but the Wildcats did give up a goal to the Huskies off of a fore-checking breakdown. The Wildcats quickly recovered and were able to get some more opportunities on the Power Play. Michaela Igo sniped the puck off the iron and was within inches of tying the game up. In the second period KUA controlled the momentum and continued to out-shoot the Huskies, but they still could not find the back of the net. The Wildcats did not want to leave the rink with any regrets, so they left everything on the ice in the third. Mary Donovan with under 8 minutes left was able to drive home a rebound off of a Kellie Joyce shot. Shannon Sebor was also credited with an assist on the play. At the end of regulation the score was 1-1. Halfway through the OT Joyce was able to steal the puck on the right side boards, beat two New Hampton players, and send the puck over to Donovan who one-timed the puck into the back of the night. It was a bench clearing celebration for the Wildcats.
The game was a total team effort. With intense cheering from Maddie Fernsell, big time defensive stops by Lizzie Palker, and blocked shots by Caro Longpre and Margaret Zonay. The Wildcats play VA on Saturday where they hope to avenge an early season loss to the Wildcats.
