The Lady Wildcats were on the road again today (their fourth game and third away contest in 6 days) and came away with a 48-35 victory over Class B Groton School (Groton, MA). This game concluded a very successful week in which the Cats defeated Deerfield, Brewster, St. Paul’s and Groton. Today’s game got off to a slow start but KUA was eventually able to build a 6-point lead at the half. Katey Spanos, back from a 3-week layoff due to a back injury, was the defensive spark the team needed. In the second stanza, KUA was able to limit their fouls and force many Groton turnovers which helped build a 13 point lead for the Cats. Fiekah Fataar ‘13 was tops in scoring for Kimball Union with 14 points. Autumn Kariuki ’12 was also in double-figures with 10 while co-captains Bianca Brenz ‘11 and Gabby Diaz ’12 each chipped in with 9.
KUA improves to 16-4 and will enjoy a well-deserved long weekend before traveling to New Hampton School for a Lakes Region League match-up on Wednesday.
