KUA Fights Hard Despite Only Having 10 Skaters

Ashley Johnston
The Wildcats have been hit by the injury and flu bug.  The team played the Rice Knights on Friday night with only 10 skaters, however these 10 players battled hard to the very end.  The team was down 1-0 at the end of the first, however they came out determined in the second.  The Wildcats controlled much of the play in the second and held the Rice Knights to no shots in the first half of the period and were able to out-shoot them 7-5 in the period.  A couple bad penalties and late changes allowed them to score 2 more goals to make the score 3-0.  In the third the Wildcats were able to capitalize first with a goal by Mary Donovan, but the deep bench of the Knights continued to wear down the Wildcats.  The Knights were able to score a couple more Power Play goals to make the final 6-1.  The Wildcats never gave up the whole game despite having the odds stacked against them.  Biz Futrell was solid in goalie making many highlight reel saves.  The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday at New Hampton school.
