KUA raced out to a 8-0 start and eventually built a 14 point lead with precision ball movement and sharp outside shooting. Brewster, however, made some adjustments and began chipping away at the deficit. The score at the break was 25-17 in favor of KUA. The Cats were a bit sluggish in the second half at times and this allowed the Bobcats to cut the lead to 3 in the closing minutes but Fiekah Fataar, Gabby Diaz and Autumn Kariuki made some clutch free throws down the stretch to put the game away. Diaz led all scorers with 16 points, including 4 threes, while Kariuki reached double figures with 11. Feikah Fataar was very aggressive driving the lane and grabbing key rebounds as was sophomore Rebecca DeTurk who continues to give 100% every contest – especially in the most important aspects of the game: defense and rebounding!
KUA runs their record to 14-4 and will play host to Class A St. Paul’s School on Friday in their last home game of the regular season. The Lady Wildcats will be honoring lone senior Bianca Brenz who has been a 4-year contributor to the girls’ varsity basketball program.
