Tough Day on the Ice for the Lady Wildcats, but a Great Night for KUA Hockey
Ashley Johnston
The Lady Wildcats were very excited to show off the new orange jerseys on Saturday at the 100 Years of Hockey Event. The crowd and the hype around 100 years of hockey was wonderful. The Lady Wildcats were taking on longtime Lakes Region Rival Proctor Academy and were hoping to get their first win against Proctor in 3 years. The Wildcats had a good couple of shifts, but a quick goal by Proctor quickly deflated the Wildcats. The Hornets were able to get another goal off of a scramble in front to make the score 2-0. The second period was one to be forgotten by the Wildcats. One positive was that Lindsey Landwehrle was able to drive home a goal off of a shot by Morgan Walsh. The score at the end of the second was 6-1. The Wildcats were determined not to give up in the third period. They were able to finally get their game together and win the period. Kellie Joyce willed her way to the goal and scored top-shelf on the Proctor goalie. The final score was 6-2 on the day. The Wildcats play Exeter on Wednesday.
The Lady Wildcats would like to thank everyone that attended the 100 Years of Hockey Event and they would like to give a special thanks to the Alumni Development office for putting on this event. The event was truly amazing and it will be ingrained in the teams memories forever!
