Kimball Union’s boys basketball team improved their record to 8-5 with a decisive win over The Masters School in Simsbury, CT today 60-43. While their opponents started the match on a 14-3 run the Wildcats fought back to tie the game at 18 and take a three point lead into the locker room 27-24. KUA stepped up their defensive pressure holding The Masters School to 17 second half points and took high percentage shots as they maintained a three to seven point lead throughout. With four minutes left Jonny Bunyan hit a three with time running out on the shot clock to put KUA up by 12. KUA went 12-16 from the free throw line in the second half to push the lead to 17 at the end. Brian Fabrizius had a strong outing, leading KUA with 12 points and 13 rebounds; Dan Brooks followed suit with 12 points, and Ryan Daye, Rick Naylor, and Jonny Bunyan each kicked in with 9. As a team KUA shot close to 60 percent from the field. The Wildcats return to action next week travelling to Holderness for a key Lakes Region match-up on Wednseday.
