The KUA Wildcats were happy to be back on home ice Saturday for their first home match in over a month. The Wildcats came out determined to continue their undefeated streak at home. The first period was back and forth with both sides having opportunities. The Wildcats were able to go on the Power Play a couple times in the second and they had a couple of good chances, however they were not able to capitalize on them. The Power Play was almost able to drive home a goal in the last few minutes of the third when Charlene Viens slap shot went off the Canterbury left post. Both KUA and Canterbury had their opportunities, but the score was 0-0 after regulation play and the game was sent into overtime. About two minutes into the OT Shannon Sebor was able to win a battle on the boards and get the puck to Kellie Joyce who passed to Michaela Igo in the slot. Igo was able to beat the Canterbury goalie five hole to give the Wildcats the sudden death OT victory! Biz Futrell was rock solid in goal for the Wildcats. Futrell turned away 22 shots and received her second shutout of the season. The Wildcats return to action Wednesday as they venture to Canada to play Stanstead College.
