Wildcats Receive First Loss of the Season

The KUA Wildcats travelled down to Proctor Academy on Friday night to take on their Lakes Region rival.  The Wildcats were hopeful they would have better luck this season at Proctor, but their hopes were quickly shattered as Proctor struck first.  KUA countered off of a slap shot by Michaela Igo that went top shelf on the Proctor goalie to make the score 1-1.  However, inconsistent play by the Wildcats allowed Proctor to score another goal.  The Hornets pounded the KUA goal and were able to drive home another goal to make the score 3-1.  Kellie Joyce responded by driving the puck down the neural zone and beating the Proctor defenseman one on one.  At the end of the second the score was 3-2 in favor of Proctor.  The Wildcats came out hard in the third, but mental errors allowed the Hornets to score again to make the score 4-2.  With 6 minutes left the Wildcats were able to score a Power Play goal off of a nice move by Charlene Viens.  However, it proved to be too little too late and Wildcats lost 4-3.  The Wildcats take on Tilton School on Saturday where they hope there will be a better result.
