KUA Boys Basketball hosted league rival Holderness today in front of a packed gym and came away with a hard fought 56-49 victory. Both teams struggled to find their offense in the first half as they traded baskets throughout with KUA taking a slim lead to the locker room 24-22. KUA’s point guard Ryan Daye kept KUA’s offense in tact scoring 12 of his team high 17 points in the first half. Waylan Siverand (10pts) also provided an offensive spark with 8 first half points. Holderness took advantage of their size with Imoh Silas and Gabas Malduras scoring 18 of their teams 22 first half points, most scored in the paint. KUA unleashed their perimeter game in the second half going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc to build a double digit lead but Holderness battled back to cut the lead to 5 with three minutes to play. Consecutive threes from Brian Fabrizuis (10pts) and Jonny Bunyan (8pts) provided the needed cushion as KUA closed out on top 56- 49. Dan Brooks and Rick Naylor added 6 and 5 points respectively as they also pulled down key rebounds for the Wildcats . KUA travels to Vermont Academy for a 3 pm game tomorrow.
