KUA Runners Go Up Against Division 1 Best

Both boys’ and girls’ Cross Country teams of the Kimball Union Academy Wildcats put their best efforts into the Phillips Academy Invitational meet last Saturday. The mostly Division I participating schools included Andover, Exeter, Loomis, Northfield Mount Hermon, Deerfield, and Dexter/Southfield, and Cushing.  Finishing first for the girls’ team and 5^th overall in the “white” race (varsity) was Caitlin Porrazzo with time 20:33, shortly followed by Emma Porrazzo with time 20:35 and finishing 6^th overall.

The boys’ team also did well at the invitational meet. Aaron Picard finished 25^th in the boys “white” race with a time of 17:56 and tied with Coach Keith Drake. Henry Vansant finished 19^th in the boys “blue” race (development) with a time of 19:16 and also tying with Coach Keith Drake. Next was Kodi Alvord who finished 49^th with a time of 20:34 and followed by Adrian Callies with a time of 22:22 placing 73^rd. Shortly after was Min Jun Kim finishing 85^th with a time of 23:11. Gyb Spilsbury was following with a time of 23:40 and placing 90^th while Danny Belback finished 92^nd at 23:50 for a time. Everyone had a very successful race in unfamiliar surroundings against an extremely competitive crowd.
