KUA set the pace early in Wednesday’s game against league leading Brewster but could not hold on as Brewster broke open thegame in the third quarter. Despite KUA’s long periods of ball control in their offensive end to start the contest, Brewster scored quickly on their first possessions to take a 2 goal lead. KUA won the face-off battles, however, and scored two of their own to tie the score off goals by Drew Simoneau and Max Abendroth (assisted by Sam Wyskiel). KUA continued to play a disciplined ball control game and defended well to end the half down 2-5. Brewster’s five goal 3rd quarter, however, dampened the Wildcats hopes. The Wildcats never slowed down, however, and put in a solid effort in the final quarter right up to the final whistle. Kevin Vieira handled most of the one v one duties with poise and skill, never allowing his talented attackman to have a clean shot at the goal. Ryan Cole made two brilliant end to end runs with the ball, the first resulting in Simoneau’s first quarter goal. Michael Maggiore recorded 13 saves on the day and Tommy Harrison won numerous ground ball wars in the Wildcat defensive end.
KUA (3-8) hosts New Hampton on Saturday at 2pm.
