Kimball Union Boys Basketball took on and beat the Masters School Lions from Simsbury Conn. 63-46 in the championship game of the Middlesex tournament on Saturday evening. KUA came off the blocks on fire going on a 10-0 run to begin the match. David Hahn established himself on defense rejecting 5 shots and grabbing 6 rebounds in the first 12 minutes of the game. Grant White sparked the offense scoring 9 of his 13 points in the first half. KUA built their lead to twenty as the half ended- 32-12 and then were able to maintain that lead throughout the second half. Gus Cruz had a solid performance at the low post scoring 13 points for the game and holding Masters’ Brian Onukwugha to 4 points. Carlos Toussaint stepped up his play in the second half as well hitting from the outside with a game high 14 points for KUA, hitting 4 threes in the process. As a result of their performances over the three game tournament Grant White, Din Moore, and Leslie Smith were awarded all-tournament honors.
