Kimball Union Girls soccer team hosted Vermont Academy today and came away with a 3-0 victory. In front of an enthusiastic Parents Weekend crowd the KUA girls did not disappoint scoring all of their goals in the first half in this Lake Region win. Rebecca DeTurk got the team started in the fifth minute finishing off a nice through ball to the wing from Shannon Doherty with a well placed ball into the far corner. Twenty five minutes in Doherty assisted her second goal of the game serving a dangerous corner kick into the box that was headed in to the short side by Lauren Borislow. Maddy Kenyon finished out the scoring for KUA with two minutes left in the half with a 30 yard drive that eluded the outstretched hands of VA's goalie.
In the second half KUA continued to attack and created a number of scoring opportunities but the Vermont defense recovered nicely keeping organized in the back and turning aside KUA's attack. KUA's Emily Kelly came up with three solid saves in the second half to preserve her shutout. KUA travels down to Exeter on Wednesday for their next match.
