KUA Cubs step up to lead Bison win over New Hampton

KUA continued its Lakes Region perfect 7-0 run with a solid 12-3 win over rival New Hampton.  New Hampton played an aggressive zone, preventing the Wildcats from building any momentum.  KUA managed to score, but their goals were few and far between as the game neared the half. Still, KUA’s defense continued its solid play and limited New Hampton to only one goal in the first 24 minutes of play.  At the half, KUA found themselves up 6-1.  KUA kept steady pressure on New Hampton in the second half and never lost its composure, possessing the ball at length and finishing with high percentage shots.  Nathan Braginetz was especially dangerous in the final two quarters, using his height to find open space on the crease and tempt his fellow attackmen to feed his way. He finished the game with three goals.  Cody Danforth added two goals and four assists, Kyle Curry put in three goals, Alex Liebert finished with a goal and an assist as did Justin Wright, Steve Kontos was one and one, Eli Ward found the back of the cage, and Chris Morse contributed an assist in the winning effort.

On defense, the trio of Vinnie Smith, Juan Breton, and Kevin Vieira, along with Taylor Cowan, did most of the work.  Goalie, Mike Maggiore (7 saves) took care of the rest.
