Home Opener Ends W/ Tough Loss

Nolan Sutker
The KUA golf team was back in action on Friday as they had their home opener against Vermont Academy. #1 Taylor Millward shot 37 but lost his match on the 8th hole to the streaky VA #1 player who posted a 34. #2 Michael Novey had an opportunity on the last hole to half his match and secure a full point in the duo's best ball match but had an untimely double on the final hole to just lose his match and half the best ball. Next, the french connection Gabe Veillieux and Martin Ouellette manned the #3 and #4 spots respectively with Gabe posting a 40 for nine holes and securing both his and the best ball match. With the match closely contested, the final foursome would decide the outcome. #5 Zach Musgrave missed a tough putt from two feet on the 8th hole to just miss beating his opponent, he shot 40 for nine holes and secured a half point. Next, scrappy and determined #6 Sam Hermann missed a putt from a similar length on the 8th and was one down going to the ninth. He found a way to win the hole and secure a half point. The best ball match was also halved, meaning KUA would come up just short of a win, losing 5 to 4. The team continues to improve and is looking forward to their rematch with Tilton tomorrow at Hanover.
