The KUA Wildcats traveled to Proctor to face an undefeated, highly motivated opponent.  The Proctor Hornets stung the Wildcats early and often building a 6-3 lead after a quarter of play. Junior Ben Hayden, off assists from senior attackmen Cody Danforth and Justin Wright, kept KUA in the game with two goals in the first quarter. Danforth added the third off an assist from Steve Kontos. KUA fought back to tie the game late in the second quarter at 6-6 only to give up two goals just before the end of the second quarter to go into the half down 6-8.  Hayden added his third of five goals off a feed from Kontos in the second quarter and junior attackmen Alex Liebert netted two off feeds from Wright and senior midfielder Kyle Curry. The Wildcats found their footing after the halftime rest and quickly rattled off four unanswered goals before Proctor could score one to end the third quarter with a 10-9 lead. Danforth and Hayden each contributed two goals a piece during the Wildcat run with assists from sophomore Eli Ward, Wright, and Curry. Proctor scored first in the fourth quarter to tie the game but then KUA made three of their own to take a 13-10 lead and to put the game out of reach.  Drew Caron scored his first KUA goal, off a feed from Wright, to help the Wildcats regain their momentum.  Proctor never gave up, however, and netted their last goal in the final minute of play.

KUA goalie Jake Gray was solid between the pipes recording 14 saves in the winning effort.  On defense, seniors Vinnie Smith, Ben Wyskiel, and Juan Breton overcame a slow start to shut down the Proctor offense in the critical waning moments of the game. Key to the day’s victory lay with senior Kontos who won 21/24 face-offs.  KUA (4-1) continues their Lakes Region schedule when they travel to Tilton on Wednesday.
