The KUA Boys Varsity Team ventured outside for the second time this year to open their season at Tilton Academy. KUA held a 7-6 lead entering the top of the 7th inning but was unable to hold down the Tilton offense. Tilton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with an unearned run. KUA came back quickly on a Ryan Burgess sacrifice fly and a Nick Kenyon RBI single. In the second KUA pushed across three run highlighted by a Ryan Cole 2 RBI triple. In the third Tilton came back with two and the score was 5-3 KUA after three innings. In the fourth the KUA defense faltered and Tilton took advantage by scoring three unearned runs.
KUA’s offense was led by Ryan Cole. He finished the day with 2 hits, including a double, 2 runs scored, one stolen base and three RBI. Gian Perani also stood out at the plate collecting two hits and scoring two runs.
ON the mound Andrew Weitzel pitched 6 plus innings giving up three earned runs. Weitzel walked 6 and struck out 4. The KUA defense did struggle making 4 errors leading to six unearned runs.
