KUA Takes Home Opener

The KUA Varsity Baseball Team hosted Brewster Academy this afternoon in their first home game of the year.  After struggling to find the plate and giving up three runs Andrew Murmes took over pitching responsibilities for the Wildcats and allowed KUA to cruise to a 13-3 win.  After falling behind 3-0 after one and a half innings KUA's bats began to heat up pushing across 13 unanswered runs.  KUA climbed to within one run after two innings. Nate Goss Woliner led off the second with a single and scored on an Andrew Weitzel double.  Weitzel then scored on a Neil Mackenzie sacrifice fly. The KUA offense exploded in the bottom of the third as they would score nine runs.  MacKenzie drove in two runs in the third, Weitzel added on RBI single and Ryan Burgess singled in Murmes.  Weitzel led the KUA offense going 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI.MacKenzie ended the day going 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and a run scored.  Goss Woliner added two hits.  
 
On the mound Andrew Murmes pitched four scoreless innings allowing one hit and no walks.  The KUA defense was flawless behind the pitchers, turning one double play and making no errors.
