Lone senior Faith Smith was honored in a ceremony on Friday night moments before the Wildcats tipped off against Class A St. Paul's School. Smith went on to play a solid game of basketball contributing 2 rebounds, 2 steals, an assist, a block and 4 points in a 51-34 victory for KUA.
Balanced scoring and team play were the keys to the Cats' success today. Seven different players scored 4 or more points with freshman Gabby Diaz leading the charge by netting 10 (4 assists, 7 steals). Plainfield's Ainsley MacDonald played tenacious defense while hauling in a team-high 7 boards (6 offensive). MacDonald also notched 7 points, 3 steals and 2 assists. Tori Agel got back to her winning ways by contributing 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists. Shelby Pillsbury, questionable for today's contest as she suffered a bad ankle sprain in the Brewster game, came in and scored 6 points while nabbing 5 steals, 2 offensive rebounds and dishing out 2 assists. Jillian Fitzgerald contributed many minutes today. She played terrific defense and made several beautiful passes to her teammates on the other end of the court.
KUA improves to 12-9 and travels to Groton (MA) tomorrow for a 2:45 tilt with the Zebras.
