KUA Tops Brewster on the Road
KUA traveled to Wolfeboro, NH, this evening to take on the spirited Brewster Bobcats. KUA built a small lead early on in the first stanza behind the hot shooting of Bianca Brenz (9 points) and Gabby Diaz (6 points) but the well-coached Bobcats simply would not go away as they whittled the lead down to 2 at the break. Again, the Wildcats would build a cushion in the second half, this time behind Greydy Diaz's 9 points, but Brewster continued to battle. Both teams went ice cold in the remaining 5 minutes, but KUA was able to seal the victory from the free throw line going 6-for-6 in the final minute (the Diaz sisters combining for all 6 made foul shots).
Gabby Diaz led all scorers with 14 points while dishing out 6 assists. Sister Greydy added 12 points, 2 assists and 3 rebounds while Bianca Brenz was the third Lady Wildcat in double figures with 10 (as well as a team leading 8 rebounds and 6 steals). Tori Agel did not have a big scoring night but did turn up the level of defensive intensity in the second half as she had 7 steals and 3 blocks in the final 16 minutes of action.
