It was a strange game from start to finish. The Wildcats played one of the best halves of the season defensively holding Class A Northfield Mount Hermon to an astonishing 8 points. The problem, however, was that the Cats only had 15 points of their own. There seemed to be a lid on the baskets - even wide open lay-ups were rimming out. KUA led the entire way until about the 3 minute mark when NMH's Meg Denison hit back-to-back 3's to push the Hoggers ahead. Down by 2 with a minute to play, Meriden's Tori Agel drove hard to the hoop and got fouled. She hit 1 of 2 freebies to cut the lead to 1. Freshman Gabby Diaz played aggressive D on Denison and forced Denison to throw the ball out of bounds but a questionable call gave the ball back to the Hoggers. Now the Cats were forced to foul. Denison missed both opportunities from the charity stripe but the Wildcats could not convert a lay-up and a later buzzer beater attempt. This was a tough loss for Kimball Union and they are hungry to get back to work on Saturday when they host Cushing at 4:30p.m.
Ainsley MacDonald led the Wildcats with a season-high 9 rebounds while Greydy Diaz was the team's leading scorer with 9 points and 7 offensive rebounds.
