Wildcats Defeated by Hyde CT

Eileen Williams
The Wildcats raced out to an 11-4 lead in the early going and maintained a slim lead throughout most of the first stanza, but Hyde's Jesika Holmes 17 first half points pushed the visitors ahead 30-24 at the break.  Hyde (10-1) held the upper hand in the second half scoring two quick buckets right away and increasing its lead by as many as 12 (40-28) at the 10:35 mark.  The Cats, however, clawed their way back in to the game and got within 4 with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game.  KUA's Bianca Brenz'11 shot a blistering 56% from the floor, including a 3-for-4 performance from behind the arc to keep the Wildcats in the game.  Brenz ended the game with a team-high 21 points.  Unfortunately, too many missed layups coupled with costly turnovers allowed the game to slip away from the hosts.  Shelby Pillsbury chipped in with 9 points while Tori Agel and Faith Smith each grabbed 6 rebounds.  Smith played a tremendous game for Kimball Union contributing 3 assists, 6 rebounds, 1 block and 3 points.  Despite an eye injury incurred the day before, Ainsley MacDonald played a tough defensive game nabbing two steals and hauling in 4 rebounds while scoring 2 points.
