Kimball Union Plays To 0-0 Draw with Andover

Kimball Union and Phillips Andover renewed their rivalry under the lights in Andover on Saturday night.  After a 4-4 draw last year and with both teams having only one loss in their 13 games, it had the makings of a great game.  Andover came out very strong, pressuring every ball and constantly putting the Kimball Union players.  They played many dangerous balls into the box but were only able to get one on target and Goss-Woliner was equal to it fro point blank range.  Andover’s best chance was a back pass gone awry that Neil Mackenzie just cleared off the line.  After the fist 20 minutes, KUA settled down and played much better. Andover had more of the ball, but much of it was in front of the Kimball Union backs.  In the second half, Andover continued to probe in the wide areas, but they were never able to find the final ball. Kimball Union did much better with Ike Okpoebo getting in behind for crosses on several occasions.  Kimball Union’s best chance came on a free kick from 30 yards with 10 minutes to go that looked to be the go-ahead goal until Spencer Macquarrie made a fantastic save tipping it over the bar for a corner.  It was a very fast and well played game by both teams.  Kimball Union hosts Exeter on Wednesday.
