KUA Pushes Undefeated Brewster to the Edge in One Goal Loss

On the Brewster Academy Lakeside Field along the shoreline of beautiful Lake Winnipesauke, a determined Kimball Union team battled undefeated Brewster goal for goal throughout the afternoon. In a game where the lead changed four different times, the Wildcats came up short by a score of 11-12 when the final horn signaled the end of the game. Senior Tri – Captains Donner Carr (East Greenwich, RI) and Jeff Galvin (Meriden, NH) had four goals each while Jamie Schmidt (Shelburne, VT), freshman Cody Danforth (Milton, VT) and Evan Roberts (West Cornwall, VT) each found Brewster twine once. Every goal was assisted as Galvin and midfielder Sean Lavin (North Easton, MA) each helped with three, Carr and Roberts with two each while freshman Justin Wright (Waccabuc, NY) contributed one. Penalties were not excessive but very costly as six visits to the “Sin Bin” resulted in four goals for Brewster. Goalie Brian Holland (Barrington, RI), playing hurt but with grit and determination, had 16 saves on the day, shutting out a potent Brewster transition game with several very athletic plays. Defenseman Judson Pickard (Cincinnati, OH) was rock solid as he consistently picked the ball away from Brewster attack men and cleared with a high percentage of effectiveness. Trevor McGraw (Meriden, NH) and Ben Severance (Rumson, NJ) also made key defensive plays throughout the afternoon, virtually never leaving the field. Long stick middie Josh Boissoneau (Bedford, NH), playing with a long stick at midfield, continued to capture ground balls and generate transition opportunities for the Wildcats. Counterpart Andrew Richardson (Lancaster, MA) was also instrumental in defending the potent Brewster transition game. Another critical ingredient of the Wildcat offensive game took place in the face off circle where Carr, Roberts and Matt Parker (Shelburne, VT) combined for 15 wins against some excellent Brewster face off personnel. The Wildcats resume play on Saturday when they travel to Saxtons River, VT as guests of Vermont Academy. The opening face-off is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
