Wildcats Fall in WNE Semi-Finals

A remarkable season came on an end on Saturday at Choate, as the Wildcats fell 3-2 in the semi-finals of the Elite Division of the Western New England playoffs. Adi Runge pitched all seven innings, giving up nine hits and keeping the potent Choate offense off balance all day with her off-speed and spin. Offensively, Stella Kozak led the way with a triple and a double, while Leila Portugal, Stella Prieto, and Kennedy FitzSimons all added hits. Prieto drove in both KUA runs with a single in the 4th inning, which closed the gap to 3-2. In the bottom of the 7th, KUA loaded the bases with two outs, but could not plate the tying run.

In their first year in the Western New England Softball Conference, which consists of 38 NEPSAC schools, the Wildcats earned the #2 overall seed, made the Elite Division Final Four, won the Lakes Region Championship for the second time in three years, and established themselves again as one of the top programs in New England.
