Despite a solid team effort that included pitcher Emma Lapsley striking out ten batters, the Wildcats fell 8-3 to Phillips Exeter on Wednesday. After falling behind 2-0 early, the Wildcats cut the lead in half in the fourth inning when Lulu Leppard drove home Adi Runge, who reached on an infield single, with an RBI single of her own. Exeter had a big bottom half of the inning, putting up four more runs, followed by two more in the fifth, but the Wildcats were resilient in the sixth inning. In that frame, Misora Hashiramoto, Lapsley, and Leppard all connected for hits and the Wildcats cut the lead to 8-3. Audrey Donahue had a triple in the seventh for KUA. Lapsley scattered 12 hits over six innings while fanning 10 Exeter batters and walking only two.
