Adi Runge pitched all seven innings while striking out nine and allowing only three hits as the Wildcats beat Proctor 7-1 on Thursday in Meriden. After a scoreless first inning, the Wildcats put two runs on the board in the second, as Lulu Leppard and Shannon Moran earned consecutive walks. Leppard stole third and took home on the overthrow while a Michaela Cokinos single scored Moran. Runge, Emma Lapsley, Misora Hashiramoto, and Leppard went to work in the third, belting out three runs worth of hits and RBIs. In the fourth inning, Audrey Donahue toughed out a fastball to the neck like the true Canadian hockey player she is, and thereby sparked a rally that saw the Wildcats score three more runs. The defense was strong on the day, with no errors on 30 chances.
