Extra-innings Heroics Lift KUA Past Proctor

Sophomore Lulu Leppard was 4-for-4 at the plate, and no hit was bigger than her solo home run in the top of the 8th to give the Wildcats a 6-5 win over Proctor in extra innings. KUA started the game well, with Emma Lapsley, Misora Hashiramoto, and Leppard all scoring in the first inning and Hashiramoto scoring again in the third to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead. Lapsley started the game in the circle for KUA, going five innings and giving up only one earned run while striking out four. Proctor had a big fourth inning, however, putting five runs on the board. Down 5-4 in the sixth, the Wildcats got a double from Leppard, and a ground ball by Teegan Duffy tied the game when it drove Leppard home. Adi Runge pitched the final three innings without surrendering a hit or a run, including a three-up-three-down 8th following Leppard's home run.
