Kimball Union Academy will host its Two Hundred and Ninth Commencement on Saturday, May 24 as it honors the graduating Class of 2025. This year, the Academy recognizes Isobel Bent ’25 as valedictorian, a designation that honors the individual who typically holds the highest academic record in the class.
She will deliver the valedictory address at Commencement.
During her time at KUA, Bent received a Cullman Scholarship which she used to pursue two experiences that combined her interests in computer science and medicine. She is a Global Scholar and a member of the Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team.
Bent, a Lebanon, N.H. resident, will attend Carnegie Mellon University in the fall. She plans to major in information systems and explore the University’s health profession’s program, the school’s pre-med program.
Two members of the Class of 2025 – Brynn Garg ’25 and Angus Spence ’25 – have earned the honor of salutatorian. Both will speak to their class at Baccalaureate on Friday, May 23.
Garg, a native of Westport, Conn., has been an active member of the KUA theater program, a Global Scholar, and member of the Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team. She will attend Dartmouth College and major in comparative literature.
Spence, from Lyme, N.H., is a member of the Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team and the KUA Fire Brigade, as well as a Giles Family STEM Scholar. He was awarded a Cullman Scholarship and pursued work studying wildlife and environmental issues in Wyoming and New Hampshire. He will attend Bowdoin College and major in biology.
“Valedictorian and salutatorian are two of the highest academic honors one can achieve,” said Academic Dean Tasheana Dukuly. “Both are inspirational to us all – they represent intellectual pursuit and curiosity, hard work and risk-taking, and, of course, academic achievement.”
Scribner Fauver P’09, ’12, Chair of the World Languages Department, will serve as this year’s Commencement Speaker. Fauver will retire at the end of the academic year after 33 years of service to the Academy.
