Hot Day to End the Season

The Kimball Union Girls JV Lacrosse team played again the St. Paul’s Pelicans for the second time this season on Saturday. It was the hottest day yet, and with no subs on the sidelines, the entire team dug deep. The Pelicans are a skilled team with depth on the bench. They started the game with 7 goals in the first 10 minutes. However, the Wildcats did not give up. After a quick water break, the KU girls began working together, redefending in the midfield and scoring goals.

Ainsley Lonczak played a tough game in the midfield, making the full field sprint throughout the game to support the team. Eva Joslin dug deep in the midfield and fought for ground balls, and created passing opportunities all over the field. Rachel Sites worked to control the draw control for much of the game, ran full lengths of the field, and tried various strategies to drive the net.

Taryn Boyer played a smart game on the offensive side, cutting for ball and creating space. Hannah Black played a competitive game behind the net, always looking to feed the ball. Molly Sites played a much more aggressive game coming back for the ball in the midfield and shooting with her signature wide low shot. Caroline Sheehan consistently found openings in the 8 meter for quick stick shots.

Lizie Connors timed each slide on the defensive side perfectly as shooters came into the 8-meter. Carys O’Connor stayed tight on her player to pick up loose balls and carry them down the field. Katie Peirson returned from injury for her first game of the season and played smart defense, carrying the ball up the field a few times for the attack. Addie Kopacz made more legal checks in the game than she made all season; it was fun to see her catch up with the ball and get the ball back. Oakley McInnis had 16 saves in net – season record!
