The day was a great success. Read on to see the background of this year's presenters:
Hugh Cushing ’83: Hugh Cushing, CISSP, CSSLP, is currently the Director of Solutions, East with Prevoty. He has also worked for Checkmarx, HP, IBM, Genetics Institute, Booz-Allen and Hamilton, BDO Seidman, EDS, and several smaller firms. His career has focused on bridging the gap between the business and technical concerns of modern organizations, most recently in application security. He holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Columbia University and a Master's in Public and Private Management from Yale University. He also holds the CISSP and CSSLP certifications from ISC^2. He lives in Manhattan with his wife Louise Dubin, a classical cellist.
Tom Estabrook ’06: After graduating from KUA in 2006, Tom attended the University of Pennsylvania where he doubled majored in Economics and French Studies. In 2011, Tom joined Princeton University as an Admission Officer and Assistant Dean for four years, during which he was responsible for the recruitment and selection process of students from the midwest and west coast. Tom then moved to New York City, where he was an associate at the executive search firm Spencer Stuart in their Education, Nonprofit and Government Practice. In this role, he helped private schools, universities, and large non-profits find new leaders. Tom is now in his second year at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, where he will graduate with an MBA in June 2018.
Jason Feitelberg ’00: Jason is the 4th generation of the Feitelberg family to enter the insurance industry. He joined Sterling Resources, Ltd. in 2011 to expand their estate planning business through the utilization of life insurance products. A 2004 graduate of Colby Sawyer with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Jason has 6 years of experience in financial services at Babson Capital and 1 year of marketing experience with Single Sources Energy Solutions.
Jason has been honored by the Cape and Plymouth Business Magazine's "40 under 40 Award" which spotlights the region's top young business leaders who excel in their industry and show dynamic leadership. Jason also serves as Trustee and Development Chair for Crossroads for Kids, an organization dedicated to creating a safe and caring community for children at risk. Jason is a graduate of the KUA Class of 2000 and now serves as President of the Alumni Council.
Michaela Igo ’13: Michaela graduated from Connecticut College in May 2017 with a degree in Economics. While at Connecticut College, she was a 4-year member of the Women's Ice Hockey Team. After graduating in May, she accepted a job offer back home on Cape Cod at a marine robotics company named Hydroid. Hydroid manufactures autonomous underwater vehicles used by navies all around the world. She works in the contracts and compliance department.
Brandi Vassiliou ’98: Brandi joined the US Coast Guard shortly after graduating. While on active duty, she was a drill instructor, seamanship and firefighting instructor, and shipboard navigator, logging more than three years of sea time. She is currently the Development Associate at David’s House here in the Upper Valley. David’s House provides a home-away-from-home for families with children being treated at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth in Lebanon, NH. She coordinates and plans fundraising events, facilitates annual solicitations, creates and edits the biannual newsletter, maintains and manages the fundraising database, website, and social media platforms, and carries out different hospitality duties to ensure guests are safe and happy. Brandi started her nonprofit career in the Advancement office at KUA in 2013 after leaving the Coast Guard. When not working, she is running a small farm down the road from KUA with her fiancée and their three kids.
Dylan McGraw ’04: Dylan graduated from Kimball Union as a 4-year senior in 2004. Since graduation, he’s served as a Class Agent and member of the KUA Alumni Council. He holds a BA in Communication from the University of New Hampshire. While at UNH, he spearheaded a fundraiser with his fraternity selling grilled cheese sandwiches, which has since expanded to multiple chapters across New England. In the years after graduating from UNH, Dylan has managed multiple Black Dog stores in New England and a state-of-the-art Marina in Florida. Most recently, he’s served as a Buyer, Front-end Operations Manager, and Social Media Manager for an independent market, and as a Sales and Field Marketing Manager for two startup beverage companies. He currently manages a Boston South Shore market, overseeing various responsibilities, including buying, payroll, and human resources.
Tyler Dewdney ’06: Tyler graduated from KUA in 2006 and went on to Bates College where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Upon graduating from Bates, Tyler spent two years working for a startup company, StartWire, a company that has found growth through its unique job search technology. In 2013, Tyler joined the Appcast team, another start up at the time, which provides an easy way to advertise open jobs on a 'pay-per-applicant' basis across a network of thousands of career and consumer sites for employers. As the Vice President of Agency, he leads account management and sales efforts for Appcast’s Agency business. Tyler grew up on The Hilltop and currently lives in the area with his fiancée, Emily, a class of 2006 graduate as well.
Kris Tardiff P ’19: Kris Tardiff is a Senior Trial Attorney with the Natural Resources Section of the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the United States Department of Justice. In this position, Ms. Tardiff represents the United States in Fifth Amendment takings, or “inverse condemnation” litigation, based on both the government’s regulation of the use of private property and the government’s use of such property for public purposes. Ms. Tardiff’s national docket of cases covers a wide range of environmental and property law issues, including water rights, tribal rights, the private use of public lands, the Endangered Species Act, the rails-to-trails program, and flooding.
Ms. Tardiff received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to joining the Department of Justice in 1995 through the Attorney General’s Honors Program, Ms. Tardiff served for two years as a law clerk to the late Honorable Shane Devine, Senior Judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire.
Andy Stadheim P ’19: Andy Stadheim is a scientist in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on the design and development of new medicines for the treatment of diseases like cancer, diabetes, and arthritis. He received a BS in Biochemistry at Virginia Tech and a PhD in Pharmacology at Wake Forest University. From there, Andy completed his postdoctoral training at Dartmouth Medical School in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. During Andy’s career, he has worked in academic research as well as across the drug development landscape from early discovery research to manufacturing and quality control. Companies Andy has previously worked for include small biotechs like GlycoFi and Celdara Medical, as well as the large pharma, Merck & Co. Currently, Andy is employed by Novo Nordisk in Lebanon, NH where he oversees all quality control aspects for the late phase clinical and commercial manufacture of biologics produced at the site.
Dan MacKimm P ’18: Dan has worked in the entertainment business for the past 29 years in the Television Program Domestic Syndication area of the business. For the past 14 of those years, he has worked for Warner Brothers as the Senior Vice President and New York Office Manager. He oversees half the US licensing over all the studio’s TV Programming to local Broadcast Television stations. Some of the programs he works with and licenses are The Ellen DeGeneres Show, TMZ, and reruns of The Big Bang Theory, Two and Half Men, Friends and many hour dramas. Before Warner Brothers, he had worked at Paramount Pictures for many years.
