BJV1 Soccer Comes up Short vs. NMH

The Boys’ JV1 Soccer team lost a tough one on Wednesday. Every player on the squad came ready to play and played their best game of the year. Despite their laudable effort, the team fell to a strong Northfield Mount Hermann team by the score of 3-2. KUA got on the scoreboard first when in the 7th minute, Cosku Kaplan ’16, finished a nice play after receiving a pass from Andrew Robertello ’18, who won the ball off a throw in by Zach Wennik ’18. Robertello and Wennik worked hard all day and were deservedly rewarded with the assists. Unfortunately, during an eight minute run in the middle of the second half NMH scored three goals against the run of play. The Wildcats never let down and kept the pressure on. Their shots struck the crossbar, went just wide, or were saved by a talented NMH keeper. Finally, the Cats broke through when Jack Geraghty ’18, using his World Cup skills, poked the loose ball into the net during a scramble. Khenrab Norgay ’19, created many exciting plays and near goals with his electrifying play. Despite allowing three goals, the keepers, Alex Plummer ’16 and Nolan Lavallee ’18, along with the backs, Se Ho Kim ’16, Andre Scherding ’17, Myles Brockelman ’16, Elliot Stevenson ’18, and Chandler Stowell ’17, played a superb game thwarting several NMH chances. Lavallee, who returned from injury, made several clutch saves. Julian Erhard ’19, and Jack Clarner ’19, did a nice job settling the ball down and working the possession game. Sadly, Ben Caron ’19, who was having a huge game, went down with an injury, the extent of which is unknown as of this writing. The entire team is keeping their fingers crossed and hoping that the injury isn’t too severe. The boys play their next game against at home against Tilton on Saturday.
